YWCA volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization. We are committed to providing meaningful volunteer experiences, utilizing your skills and resources to complement our programs and services in a way that improves client services. We always need volunteers and we seek to align your passion with our work.

Each year dedicated volunteers contribute invaluable service across all of YWCA Sonoma County programs. Whether you like working with children or adults, we have a role for you!

This training qualifies participants to volunteer within our various programs and serves as Domestic Violence Education for those who work in the community.

Ways to Volunteer ↘

  • Family Advocacy Volunteers:

    • Provide advocacy and resources

    • Accompanying intakes

    • Preparing rooms for new residents

    • Preparing files and administrative tasks including data entry

    24/7 DV Hotline Volunteers:

    • Answers the DV crisis hotline
      An additional 20 hours of hotline practice is required.

    Court Accompaniment:

    • Provide moral support to individuals going to family court

    • Informing individuals about court processes and some legal terminology

    • There is an ongoing need for bilingual volunteers

  • Childcare Center Volunteers: 

    • Work on-site with children and model positive behavior

    • Support staff during planned activities

    • Assist with program events when necessary

    • Participate in school chores and maintain learning environment

    • Support staff with administrative tasks as needed

  • Support Group Co-Facilitators:

    • Facilitate the YWCA’s domestic violence education support group once a week for 2 hours following the specific YWCA curriculum

    • Provide resources and referrals to clients as needed

    • Collect client data, document hours and attendance

  • We welcome those with special skills in facility maintenance to lend a hand for special projects.

40-Hour Domestic Violence Training

This training qualifies participants to volunteer within our various programs and can be a great “DV 101” resource for those who work with the community.
